For a long time we have been reluctant to add the Viset Corner Bar in Rawai to this website. It has always had a superb location and tons of promise, but until recently, it has never reached it’s full potential as a bar.
It was once known as the cave bar, or dark bar, by appearance only as the bar never really had an official name until recently. It was always a dive. A place that you never knew whether it would be open or not, and by the looks of it, it always looked closed even when it was open. Ownership was transferred a few times and some renovations were made on the place which made it much more appealing, but it didn’t really take off until the the current owners took over.
Despite it’s long history, it is now one of the busiest, if not the busiest bars in all of Rawai. It’s only rival perhaps being the always busy Sunshine Bar on the Rawai beachfront. Nowadays you would be hard pressed to find a night that there weren’t at least some customers sitting in the Corner Bar. Most nights you will find quite a few customers drinking and enjoying the good vibes that fill the place.
The staff are very much aware of what’s going on around them and you can be sure to not go long with an empty drink in hand. Don’t expect to pay top dollar for beers and cocktails either. Perhaps the secret to the Viset Corner Bar is that despite it being a popular watering hole, they don’t gouge you on drink prices and you don’t need to worry about the staff trying to pad your bill.
Inside the bar, they have a pretty decent pool table that was new sometime in the middle of 2011. It stands empty for most of the night, so if you enjoy to shoot a couple of games while you drink, you shouldn’t have to wait long for an open table.
The Viset Corner Bar in Rawai Beach is a great choice to head out and have a drink or two. Even if you don’t feel like staying the entire night, it is in a great location with easy access to plenty of other bars. Good music, friendly staff and reasonable prices make it one of the hottest bars in Rawai.
