If you are looking for some good shopping but want to get out of the overpriced shopping centers, then you should check out one of the Phuket Town Night Markets. The best of the bunch is likely the weekend market located somewhat near the Central Festival. The market runs on Saturday and Sunday every week and is open in the evening through most of the night.

There are literally hundreds of stalls, each selling their own unique style of wares. We won’t lie to you, the majority of vendors are selling women’s clothing and shoes. But for those men looking to go shopping, fear not, there are still plenty of men’s clothing shops as well as other items that both sexes can enjoy.

In addition to women’s and men’s clothing, you can expect to find a wide variety of various items that make for perfect souvenirs. Whether you are interested in hand crafted merchandise or items that are 100% Thai, you cannot go wrong at the night market.

Like anywhere in Phuket, the vendors expect you to haggle over the prices, so items are marked accordingly. It may be unfair, but you won’t get the absolute best deals unless you are Thai, take it or leave it, that’s the way it is. But this doesn’t mean you won’t get a deal. Most vendors will come way down on their original price, but they won’t do it unless you ask.

The one bad thing, for those of you who are above average in height, you may have trouble navigating down the various rows. There are tarps extended over each of the rows of stalls, which is perfect if it was to rain, but if you are over 170 centimeters (about 5 foot 8 inches), you will be constantly ducking. However, this is only a small price to pay for the deals that the market offers.
