Laem Singh Beach is one of the more beautiful beaches in Phuket Island and was relatively unknown until recently. Nowadays, the beach is packed full of tourists, but you really can’t blame them. Despite the increase in tourism, the beach is still absolutely stunning and well worth a look.
The beach itself is rather small, only about 300 meters from end to end. The sand is very fine and the seabed is sandy and good for a swim. There are rock formations on both ends of the beach and a few on the beach. The entire beach is surrounded by jungle, giving it a somewhat private feel.
There are sun loungers for rent and vendors that will serve you drinks. There are also vendors walking the beach that will find you sooner or later and try to sell you some sort of souvenir item. If you must buy something, be sure to haggle the price down. The vendors expect you to try to get a lower price, so they really mark up their items. There are a few bars and restaurants along the beach as well as some souvenir shops.
If you want to get out of the busy tourist areas and head to a beautiful beach away from the crowds, Laem Singh may not be for you. Everyone seems to have had the same idea and followed you to this beautiful beach. If you don’t mind spending your day amongst many fellow tourists, then it is a great place to spend a day. It has all the amenities that you would find on the more touristy beaches and possesses more natural beauty then most places.
Beach Activities
A few years ago you would be hard pressed to find any beach activities on Laem Singh Beach. As the popularity of the spot increased, the vendors have moved in. Currently you can rent jet-skis and partake in para-sailing, banana boat rides or water skiing. There is also some good snorkeling at the south end of the beach along the rocks.
Getting There
Laem Singh Beach is located directly between Surin and Kamala Beach. There are two parking lots at the top of the hill, each charging a parking fee. They are signs along the road and pointing down to the beach, so it shouldn’t be all too difficult to find. From the parking lot just walk down the path to the beach. The south parking lot offers a short but steep trail, the north parking lot has a longer but less demanding decline, so take your pick.
