Khao Khat Beach

Located on a quiet beach on the west side of Cape Panwa, Khao Khat Beach is pretty typical amongst the other south Phuket beaches. The beach consists of a nice fine sand which is pleasant to walk on, but lurking just under the water is a seabed littered with rocks. It is a great place to stub your toe. The average water level is also quite low so if you fancy a swim, be careful not to scrape your chest on the rocks. Overall, it is a very nice place to just sit and enjoy the views out over the bay without doing much else.

There were a few beach loungers, but they belonged to one of the resorts and could not be rented by the average beach goer. If you plan on spending the day at Khao Khat Beach, you best bring your own chair or at least a towel. The beach has some nice views of Koh Lon and Chalong Bay. From the beach you can see all of the boats anchored in the bay.

If you fancy a bite to eat, there is a restaurant located on the beach called ‘The Beach Bar.’ They serve drinks and Thai food at a reasonable price. It is a good place to hang out for a few hours in the shade and enjoy the nice view. For a better beach alternative, we recommend that you check out Ao Yon Beach which is just five minutes away.

Beach Activities

Similar to most of the beaches along Cape Panwa, there are no beach activities available and the water is too shallow for much of anything.

Getting There

Coming from Panwa Cape, make the turn up the hill towards the View Point. There are also signs for the Cloud 19 Beach Resort. Follow the road up into the jungle for a few kilometers. You will come down a relatively steep hill that winds down near Ao Yon Noi Beach which runs immediately parallel to the road. Keep driving along this road, passing Ao Yon Beach on your left. As the road winds back up north, Khao Khat Beach will run along the left hand side. By the Sea Resident, Hotel Novotel and Cloud 19 Beach Retreat all line this beach.
